About the subject
As a fan of sci-fi and anime I wanted to get something which represents both these categories. I know there is a lot of Gundam stuff around, but I am not fan of Gundam, therefore I looked for something different. Space submarine might have been that subject and there is an option to build more ship from the series (even in bigger scale). The ship is from series “Space Battleship Yamato” from ’70. Her original look was rather obsolete and I did want to make her retrofit.
The build itself was relaxing and all changes were made intuitively. I just found something in my leftovers from previous builds and used that. I guess that is why I enjoyed the build so much – there we no boundaries, no rules. I was limited just by my imagination and craftsmanship.
Build and painting
There is not much to say – everything in the kit is made-up. The kit itself is easy, gets nicely togethere and there is no catch. It is suitable for beginners. I used just standard techniques to finalize the build – airbrushed camouflage, details made with Vallejo for brush, wash, light “weathering” and matt varnish. I used INFINI cutting mat to create “like-digital” camouflage.
